As much as I hate to exercise, I knew that I had to do something to keep my weight under control. I was also having back pains every time I lifted my children. For the past 2 months, I have gone to SuperSlow Zone® twice a week for only 20 minutes each session. Now, I can already see the results.…a lighter, more toned body, and a stronger back.

I had NEVER EVER lifted weights before, and I have already doubled my weightlifting load for my arms and my legs. Now, I can proudly go around flexing my muscles for my husband and lifting my kids in the air, sort of like Supermom!

With SuperSlow Zone®, you make up set appointments each week that you pay for and are expected to keep. This has kept me on track. I show up each week, on time, to meet with Michelle (my wonderful trainer), and she does not let me get distracted and quit.

It’s actually funny how paying money for something makes you really want to make it work. Now, that I am paying for SuperSlow Zone® , I have FINALLY taken the initiative to walk around the block a few times a week and try to eat smaller (somewhat healthier) portions of food at mealtimes. I am determined to make this all worth it!

As much as I want to be healthy and fit, I have had NO success with gym memberships. I would always pay the initial fees, but I would NOT make time to actually go, and I had no idea what to do with the weights and equipment. At SuperSlow Zone®, I am set up for a specific routine and a scheduled appointment with a wonderful trainer who is expecting me to show up and work hard. This works for me because I cannot slack off!

A lovely young mother of two in her early 30s who has never exercised in her life began working out. Her husband is a former pro football player for the Detroit Lions. He is very much into working out and has a gym in his basement, but he couldn’t get her to go down the stairs to use his equipment. So he talked her into coming to see me; she did and now very much enjoys the results. The idea when she came was that they were going on this big vacation – the first time away from their two children – a cruise. She wanted to look the best she could for this cruise, so I was part of their cruise package.

After she had been coming in for a little while, her husband came in because he wanted to meet the woman that finally got his wife to exercise! He has been a big supporter, encouraging her to come in. They just came back from their cruise and she told me that he was so happy with the way she looked that he encouraged her to keep coming in.

What was really nice was that her mother looked at the pictures from her cruise and said, “Oh, you look like you did when you were back in college – you need to keep going there!” That was nice!

She did something that was just so cute when she came in to sign up for another package. Even though I can’t keep it, I thought that was so sweet that she wrote out a separate check, as a tip, and then in the “for” she put “for our friendship.” I should frame it or make a nice copy of it and frame it and give it back to her! I just thought it was very touching to feel that way. She said I was worth every penny and that she appreciated me.

This kind of expression let’s me know how much SuperSlow Zone® is helping improve her health, and she is getting back what she wants – which is to look and feel better after having children. When she presented her check, she was choosing beyond the cruise to continue to make SuperSlow Zone® part of her life.

Mother Finds Results with “Intellectual” Exercise

I have always wanted to try a personal trainer but was either too lazy or too embarrassed to figure out how to get one at the local “Y” or the local gym. While driving up and down Route 31 the SuperSlow Zone® signs caught my eye and I was very curious about several things…the personal trainer, the 20 minute workout, and the SLOWNESS of the workout. I stopped to check it out and haven’t regretted it since. I started last April 2008 and everything that Kevin and his crew advertise is true. You have a personal trainer. And, on occasion there might be some other person finishing or starting their workout while you are there. They are very thorough before you start and as you progress. And, you do make progress! They want to know your medical history and care about how you are feeling each time you work out.

I am over 50 and I know I will have trouble losing weight. (I love food and hate to exercise.) But now that I have done SuperSlow Zone® for several months…I feel better. My clothes fit better and I know that I am stronger. I have no trouble picking up my 5 year old daughter with one arm. I have muscle definition (who knew?) And, it is aerobic. But what I love most is that it is a 20 – 25 minute workout and you are done! You schedule at your convenience and the staff is always very courteous and helpful. Try it!

My 14 year old son and I enrolled in the SuperSlow Zone® program about six months ago with hardly any strength training experience. At first, we were skeptical of the SuperSlow Zone® philosophy. We spoke to Kevin Clemente, the owner of our regional SuperSlow Zone®, who assured us that the safest and most effective manner of strength training is keeping muscles strained for a given time, leading to their fatigue. If one can reach “failure” he will gain the most muscle.

This program really works. My son is an avid golfer and has improved his distance tremendously. This training that takes 20 minutes, two times a week, is incredibly effective. I have also gained stamina and energy in my daily activities. One notable observation was during my recent trip to Europe where I was unaffected by the jet lag. Short Workouts with Results — Regains Lost Motivation

Another client with several challenges has been with me since the beginning of January. He is an overweight, former athlete in his early 40’s facing knee replacement surgery.

In the beginning I really had to do some convincing, because he had trouble believing that he didn’t have to workout for three hours in a gym a day. However, once he made the commitment to try it, it didn’t take that long – maybe three weeks for him to really believe in the workout. It never got easier, which is the whole idea that was very surprising to him. His workout was always a challenge and he was always pushing.

Now, he is a believer because of his successes: 1. He has not needed injections in his knee since starting SuperSlow Zone®. 2. He has lost 22 pounds since he starting in January – he is looking to lose more. 3. He has reduced the amount of pain medication.

He played all kinds of sports, but hockey was the main sport that he played from youth, through college and into his adult life, until he had to stop playing hockey about a year ago. Now he is hoping that he will be able to play again.

I am a 51 year old female who has been doing SuperSlow Zone® for the past three months. In that time period I have seen my strength improve greatly, and I am seeing some nice new definition that I definitely didn’t have before! I have not bulked up — but toned up. I feel stronger and happier, and proud of myself that I have been able to steadily increase the weights.

I have much more to accomplish to get to where I want to be, but am heading in the right direction. I realize that my biggest challenge now is eating correctly so I can get better results from the work I am putting in. I am, unfortunately, a bit of a mindless eater in the evening while relaxing! My goal is to curb that bad habit, work hard during my sessions, and see a more noticeable result during the next few months.

The instructors I have had are fantastic. They watch me carefully to see that I am doing each move correctly. That is extremely important to me. I have, in the past, hurt myself a bit by improperly using weight machines at the gym — even though I was shown how to use it. After a while I guess I’d get sloppy and start doing something wrong. That is not possible here. With a trainer at your side the entire time, you never lose the proper form.

I have been a SuperSlow Zone® client with Cathy Carter for a year.

The most profound changes are the subtle and natural ones, and ones I only notice after an event. For example:

  • The ease with which I can put a suitcase in the overhead compartment on an airplane.
  • The ability to lift my body up onto the side of the pool.
  • These may not seem like a big deal, but since health is the greatest wealth we have, for me to do the every day tasks with ease is a really big deal.

  • As a result of two surgeries in 1972, I had pain and weakness in one of my knees.

My introduction to SuperSlow Zone® took place in a rather nondescript office park in Southern California. Every day, I would walk by a nondescript “by appointment only” sign to get to the nondescript office park delicatessen. Then, I would walk by the sign again with my lunch order back to my office. Some days, I walked by the sign several times… for breakfast, for lunch, and then again for dinner. My expanding waist line and I were working a lot of hours in those days. As the Senior Director of Information Technology at a fast-growing company, I honestly believed I didn’t have enough time to exercise.

One day, out of curiosity, I ignored the sign and poked my head in the door. I didn’t know it then, but what I discovered in that nondescript office park was about to change the course of my life forever. What I discovered was that I absolutely did have time to exercise, and that I had not even known what exercise really is.

After just a few workouts, this computer nerd was actually gaining muscle! Having new muscle was inspiring me to eat better. As I began to pay attention to what went into my mouth, I started losing fat. I felt better physically, and my clothes fit better. As time went on, it seemed to me that I didn’t catch every flu bug that came by. I even finally stopped smoking.

I’m so happy with the results I’ve achieved and the benefits that I continue to enjoy that my partner Sandy and I quit our former careers altogether. We studied to become certified SuperSlow Zone® Instructors, and we opened our own SuperSlow Zone® so we can share this remarkable workout with others.

I’ve been working out at in the SuperSlow Zone® for about 1.5 years. I believe in the value of strength training and have often “lifted weights” in my 20’s and 30’s. For the past 15 years it’s been mostly cardio/endurance work fighting the battle of the bulge. As I look back on my 40’s I note a definite change in metabolism, eating habits and body chemistry. My name is Judy Grignon and I am 55 years old. I have been attending workouts at the SuperSlow Zone for the past 15 months, usually working out two times per week.

Many years ago I was a passenger in a car that was hit form behind by a pickup truck. I had a neck injury as a result of that accident and have had neck problems ever since. Along with neck discomfort, I suffered from frequent migraine headaches. I tried a chiropractor but my visits to hem didn’t do anything to help my neck or headaches.

Since coming to the Super Slow Zone I can say that I don’t have neck aches or migraines headaches nearly as frequently as I use to have. My posture has improved because I feel generally stronger than I did prior to SSZ visits.

I feel that Kevin and the rest of the trainers are extremely dedicated to each client and any health issues we may have. We have experimented with weights, frequency of particular exercises, and have even eliminated certain machines temporarily if we felt it necessary.

As a program coordinator for a non-profit, my job is often physical, especially during the summer and fall. I find that I can move around without pain or discomfort, even climbing into a truck when necessary. I am 5’10″ tall and weigh approximately 135 lbs. I have always been thin, but now I have definition in my legs, arms, and abs. I like the way I can now see muscles I my arms and also my legs.

I must say that I prefer walking out the door after a workout as compared to walking in the door for the workout, but I feel great after completing each and every workout.

The time commitment is a minor but the effects have been tremendous.

I am 81 years old. I started with SuperSlow® in October 2009 so I have been doing this for 1.8 years. I have made great gains with the use of my arms and legs.

Nine years ago we had to move, and I was packing boxes. I went to lift one of the heavier boxes and tore a muscle in my right upper arm. I went to an orthopedic doctor and had to go to physical therapy. I really felt it did nothing for me. I was then told to do weight lifting. I did not ever pursue that and my arm and hand got weaker. After many years, my friend told me about SuperSlow Zone. And I decided to try it. I have to say I have gained strength in my arms and hands, and the discomfort I had is gone.

Not only my arms, but my legs feel like I am solid standing on them. When I would have to bend down to retrieve something in my lower cabinets, I truly could not get up. I needed help to pull me up. I now can rise by myself with no distress.

Combating Arthritis and Osteopenia After Surgeries… Successfully!

I was laid up the better part of last year as a result of three foot surgeries. My recovery started slowly because just about everything hurt when I tried to increase my level of activity – my back, my knees, my hip. My dream was to be able to walk through the grocery store without pain. After just a few weeks working this Michelle at the SuperSlow Zone®, I could feel myself getting stronger. Now, after three months, I’m able to power walk for nearly three miles without even feeling tired. I now look at travel brochures with the confidence that I’d be able to keep up.

I have arthritis and Osteopenia, I hate to sweat, I find exercise tapes to be boring, I’ve wasted enough money on memberships at gyms I don’t go to, and I’m generally too tired to go anywhere after work. However, after nearly a year of inactivity due to three foot surgeries, I knew I had to do something if I were going to regain some strength. I was only 53 and walking like an old lady. After I looked into a SuperSlow Zone® that opened in my neighborhood, I knew I no longer had any excuse for failing to act.

Strength training is recommended for arthritis and Osteopenia, Michelle keeps the fans on in the work-out room, I can tolerate just about any exercise routine for three minutes, there is no membership fee, and I can stop on my way home from work – I’m in and out in about half an hour. After three months, I’m amazed at how much stronger and more flexible I am. I have greater range of motion in my arms, I’m not limping anymore, and I can power walk for nearly three miles without even feeling tired. Even my posture has improved as my back and abs are stronger. I hope to retire in the next year. If there isn’t a SuperSlow Zone® in the vicinity of where I decide to live, I may have to open one myself!

I would recommend SuperSlow Zone® for anyone who doesn’t have time to exercise, has aches and pains, doesn’t want to join another gym, or just wants to improve his/her quality of life. The instruction is one-on-one, the workout focused, the regimen safe, and the results amazing!

As much as I hate to exercise, I knew that I had to do something to keep my weight under control. I was also having back pains every time I lifted my children. For the past 2 months, I have gone to SuperSlow Zone® twice a week for only 20 minutes each session. Now, I can already see the results.…a lighter, more toned body, and a stronger back.

As someone who has participated in a wide variety of sports, including golf, baseball, softball, water skiing, volleyball, racquetball, squash, handball, football, collegiate hockey, weight lifting, etc, I am no stranger to exercise and 2 hour sessions in the gym.

A couple of years ago, complications from an old knee injury forced me to give up most sporting activities and forced me to visit an orthopedic doctor for multiple injections to help ease the pain. The prognosis for me was to tolerate the pain for as long as possible, then get a partial knee replacement.

Shockingly enough, I’ve been coming to SuperSlow Zone® for a little over three years. Three years! I, who dislike exercise and who have avoided it like the plague, have been consistently showing up every week (usually twice a week) for quite a while now. Why? Well, the main reason for me is that I have an appointment. To me, an appointment means I have to show up. Otherwise I’m dishonoring the person to whom I made a commitment. Furthermore, I have my own personal cheerleader who is encouraging me every time.

The best part though? My back, which has ached for years (really…years) is finally strong, and it only hurts if I twist it in some odd way. There is no longer the chronic discomfort I presumed I’d have to live with for the rest of my life. And I can actually feel muscles in my arms and legs and torso! I’m a 42 year-old woman, and this is exciting news to me. I can’t say that I’ve magically stopped overeating, but I am definitely able to say that working out on a regular basis has kept me from completely losing my shape. I’ve certainly had enough people ask me whether I’ve lost weight (when, in fact, I have not), so this must be working in my favor!

Another aspect of SuperSlow Zone® that I particularly like is the fact that I don’t come out after a workout drenched in sweat. That fact alone makes the whole thing a worthwhile investment! I can usually go in wearing my work clothes (this works for me, because I happen to work in a job that allows me to dress casually). The most profound changes are the subtle and natural ones, and ones I only notice after an event. For example:

I feel that Kevin and the rest of the trainers are extremely dedicated to each client and any health issues we may have. We have experimented with weights, frequency of particular exercises, and have even eliminated certain machines temporarily if we felt it necessary.

As a program coordinator for a non-profit, my job is often physical, especially during the summer and fall. I find that I can move around without pain or discomfort, even climbing into a truck when necessary. I am 5’10″ tall and weigh approximately 135 lbs. I have always been thin, but now I have definition in my legs, arms, and abs. I like the way I can now see muscles I my arms and also my legs.

I must say that I prefer walking out the door after a workout as compared to walking in the door for the workout, but I feel great after completing each and every workout.

No More Broken Bones

A new client started a few weeks ago – a woman in her early 60s with osteoporosis who had suffered several broken bones.

She is just starting, so she is beginning to build up a little bit of strength. It is an interesting experience with her, because I walk her in and out to her car for safety.

It has been a very interesting and positive experience having her as a client because:

I have a young man that suffered a stroke in his mid-30s, about 7 years ago. He was in a coma for a period of time and lost a lot of muscle and has continuous pain in the back of his legs to the point where he would just fall to the floor in pain and roll around.

His mother saw the article in Vogue and called. They had tried a lot of different doctors and physical therapy and nothing seemed to make any difference, so after reading the article they thought that they would give it a try.

Now 41, his mother and dad drive quite a long distance to bring him in twice a week to exercise. He has not been coming long, but he is already starting to have fewer episodes of pain, and it also gives him something to look forward to.

An athlete before his stroke, he would really like to be able to run again, play golf and things like that. I am working with him and I hope that he can become pain free at some point, or at least have less pain and get stronger so he can walk and run.

I was laid up the better part of last year as a result of three foot surgeries. My recovery started slowly because just about everything hurt when I tried to increase my level of activity – my back, my knees, my hip. My dream was to be able to walk through the grocery store without pain. After just a few weeks working this Michelle at the SuperSlow Zone®, I could feel myself getting stronger. One client came to me with very little strength after having several operations and spending most of her time in bed for the better part of a year.

When she started she wasn’t able to lift her arms up to wash her hair. The joke between us was that I was going to have to go to her house in the morning and help her get ready!

Her goal was to be able to ride her bike again this spring. She has come along way after just being with me since February 2006 (four months). Not only she can ride her bike, but now her strength is much better than it was and she can do all types of things that she couldn’t do before:

1. She can walk at a good clip for 40 minutes in the park.

Ok…so Tom slacked off his SuperSlow Zone® work outs for ten days (just kidding…these were ten days ‘post total knee surgery…’) so how was his FIRST work out when he returned?

I didn’t drop a beat…like I had never been away. I picked right back up at the weight level just before the surgery. No pain during my workout. My knees feel great just after the workout and, of course, I am still rehabbing them, which is to be expected. I am walking over ½ a mile with a walker, but that will be gone soon.”

As someone who has participated in a wide variety of sports, including golf, baseball, softball, water skiing, volleyball, racquetball, squash, handball, football, collegiate hockey, weight lifting, etc, I am no stranger to exercise and 2 hour sessions in the gym.

A couple of years ago, complications from an old knee injury forced me to give up most sporting activities and forced me to visit an orthopedic doctor for multiple injections to help ease the pain. The prognosis for me was to tolerate the pain for as long as possible, then get a partial knee replacement.

When I received information regarding the SuperSlow Zone®, I was very skeptical. How could 20 minutes of exercise begin to compare with 2 hours in the gym??? How could one set of 2 minutes possibly compare with 4 or 5 sets for each exercise???

I have been doing two sessions a week since the SuperSlow Zone® of Northville opened in January 2006, missing only two sessions while on a week’s vacation at Easter. The sessions/workouts are incredible. Every muscle in my body feels like it’s been pushed to the limit each and every session. Hi everyone! I had to tell you all about the new me! I am soooo excited about the way I look and feel that I felt the need to spread the good news about Transitions Lifestyles™ and SuperSlow Zone®. 71 Year Old Uses SuperSlow Zone® to Improve Swimming and Golf

Hi y’all,

Just a note that you can share with all and sundry, to tell you that we really felt good about SuperSlow Zone®.

Miriam is obviously more fit than she has been in years, and this is demonstrated most clearly by her golf game, where her tee shots are verifiable 25 yards longer that before she started on the program. A major accomplishment, directly attributable to Missi, is the fact that she is enthusiastically looking forward to coming back to you when we come back to Florida in the Fall. One client came to me with very little strength after having several operations and spending most of her time in bed for the better part of a year.

When she started she wasn’t able to lift her arms up to wash her hair. The joke between us was that I was going to have to go to her house in the morning and help her get ready!

Her goal was to be able to ride her bike again this spring. She has come along way after just being with me since February 2006 (four months). Not only she can ride her bike, but now her strength is much better than it was and she can do all types of things that she couldn’t do before:

1. She can walk at a good clip for 40 minutes in the park.
2. She can walk up the stairs with one foot in front of the other, instead of stopping at each step.

She has been doing the walk and bike riding for more than a month now. That is a great, great thing for her and the quality of her life is even better than she thought it might be.

No More Broken Bones

A new client started a few weeks ago – a woman in her early 60s with osteoporosis who had suffered several broken bones.

She is just starting, so she is beginning to build up a little bit of strength. It is an interesting experience with her, because I walk her in and out to her car for safety.

It has been a very interesting and positive experience having her as a client because:

  1. She has never done any exercise in her life.
  2. She is very excited about coming.
  3. She enjoys the results enough to keep coming twice a week.
  4. She recently attended a dinner to benefit a Detroit-area hospital, sitting at a table with doctors gave out a pile of my business cards and told them what I was doing.
  5. She has also spoken to her physical therapist who is excited about meeting and working with me.

She is due to get a DEXA scan, which we will use as a baseline. We will be able to compare it against subsequent follow-up measurements.

My husband and I started exercising at SuperSlow Zone® several months ago. We were advised that it was not a weight reduction program: instead we would be strengthening and toning our body musculature and safeguarding our bodies from possible osteoporosis.

Our instructors encouraged us with each exercise in every thirty-minute session and we would leave the Zone feeling like “Weeble Wobble” toys due to shaking muscles. After about six weeks, my husband began to notice that his suit and coat jackets were fitting snugger over his developing chest (pectoral muscles) and his abdominal ridges were becoming more defined. I noticed the slimming and strengthening in my legs, the lifting of my buttocks and reduced “waving” of my underarms!

The real proof of results became apparent on a recent Black Bear Hunt in Alaska. I had to wade in 3 – 4 feet deep, 45° ocean water, with waders and boots, circling around a rocky cliff edge to get in position for my shot.

As I rested my rifle on the rocky ledge, I had to assume a semi-squat position – knees bent to about 30 degrees, feet sprawled apart on two rock ledges. All of this positioning did definitely test my quadriceps muscles. I had to maintain the position for an extended period of time, yet my legs never trembled or tired! Even my 35-year-old guide could not believe that a 61-year-old woman could maintain the position necessary to make the precise shot without shaking.

Ok…so Tom slacked off his SuperSlow Zone® work outs for ten days (just kidding…these were ten days ‘post total knee surgery…’) so how was his FIRST work out when he returned?

I didn’t drop a beat…like I had never been away. I picked right back up at the weight level just before the surgery. No pain during my workout. My knees feel great just after the workout and, of course, I am still rehabbing them, which is to be expected. I am walking over ½ a mile with a walker, but that will be gone soon.”

Strong At Age 59, Overcomes 40 Years of Knee Pain To Brown Belt In Karate With SuperSlow Zone®

I have been a SuperSlow Zone® client with Cathy Carter for a year.

The most profound changes are the subtle and natural ones, and ones I only notice after an event. For example:

  • The ease with which I can put a suitcase in the overhead compartment on an airplane.
  • The ability to lift my body up onto the side of the pool.
  • These may not seem like a big deal, but since health is the greatest wealth we have, for me to do the every day tasks with ease is a really big deal.

  • As a result of two surgeries in 1972, I had pain and weakness in one of my knees.

I am 81 years old. I started with SuperSlow® in October 2009 so I have been doing this for 1.8 years. I have made great gains with the use of my arms and legs.

Nine years ago we had to move, and I was packing boxes. I went to lift one of the heavier boxes and tore a muscle in my right upper arm. I went to an orthopedic doctor and had to go to physical therapy. I really felt it did nothing for me. I was then told to do weight lifting. I did not ever pursue that and my arm and hand got weaker. Another client with several challenges has been with me since the beginning of January. He is an overweight, former athlete in his early 40’s facing knee replacement surgery.

In the beginning I really had to do some convincing, because he had trouble believing that he didn’t have to workout for three hours in a gym a day. However, once he made the commitment to try it, it didn’t take that long – maybe three weeks for him to really believe in the workout. It never got easier, which is the whole idea that was very surprising to him. His workout was always a challenge and he was always pushing.

Now, he is a believer because of his successes:

  1. He has not needed injections in his knee since starting SuperSlow Zone®.
  2. He has lost 22 pounds since he starting in January – he is looking to lose more.

Yesterday I played golf for the first time in 16 months. I shot 79, beat my Dad and brother (who play golf every week in season) and my step-sister. Former Athlete Regains Ability to Walk Golf Course Through SuperSlow Zone®

As someone who has participated in a wide variety of sports, including golf, baseball, softball, water skiing, volleyball, racquetball, squash, handball, football, collegiate hockey, weight lifting, etc, I am no stranger to exercise and 2 hour sessions in the gym.

A couple of years ago, complications from an old knee injury forced me to give up most sporting activities and forced me to visit an orthopedic doctor for multiple injections to help ease the pain. The prognosis for me was to tolerate the pain for as long as possible, then get a partial knee replacement.

When I received information regarding the SuperSlow Zone®, I was very skeptical. How could 20 minutes of exercise begin to compare with 2 hours in the gym??? How could one set of 2 minutes possibly compare with 4 or 5 sets for each exercise???

I have been doing two sessions a week since the SuperSlow Zone® of Northville opened in January 2006, missing only two sessions while on a week’s vacation at Easter. The sessions/workouts are incredible. Every muscle in my body feels like it’s been pushed to the limit each and every session.
