Prior to becoming a SuperSlow instructor, April held various public facing roles in the hospitality, real estate, and software industries. A natural trainer, she has a knack for connecting with clients to accomplish their physical transformations. “I am passionate about using correct form and proper technique (to prevent injury) in an encouraging environment. I believe that we all, regardless of our current conditioning, are able to achieve the goals that we set for ourselves.” In her free time, you’ll find her tapping into her creative energy by experimenting in the kitchen or working on her green thumb. She also enjoys practicing yoga, hiking local trails, impromptu beach trips and sharing time with friends and family. April supports Tri-Valley Animal Rescue and is a member of GNON (Girls Night Out Networking). She is passionate about animals. Along with her daughter, who is a veterinary technician, she has fostered numerous feral and abandoned kittens over the years before placing them for adoption through a local agency. Additionally, she is a community volunteer at the Sunol Agricultural Park in order to further her knowledge of gardening, sustainable farming, and land stewardship.
Steve (50) was an Information Technology Consultant for the past 20 years. More specifically, he helped guide the most prestigious National and International Law Firms, as well as Investment Banks, through their installation and upgrades of their software applications and databases. He wore many hats as a Consultant, primarily he designed Courseware, authored User Manuals, but, he was most at home Teaching. He held classes, workshops, deskside training, remote and one on one training. His teaching method was to teach technical topics in a non-technical way.
Steve holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Hofstra University. He has volunteered his time to the community serving as a Nassau County Auxiliary Police Officer, an Instructor at the Syosset PAL Judo Club, a Department Head and Coach at the Jericho Athletic Association, as well as, a Coach for Baseball Clinics on behalf of the Town of Oyster Bay.
Steve’s family has overcome many obstacles in life. On May 20, 2016, they lost their home and all of their belongings in a horrific 4 alarm fire. They are very lucky to be alive. The members of Steve’s family were not home at the time the fire erupted. Steve was engaged in a webinar, in the basement. His noise-canceling headset worked so well that he had no idea of the inferno above him. He eventually escaped, but, not before he saved his beloved dogs. A week later, his beloved brother and his children’s adored Uncle, Jeff, passed away. After hearing the news of Steven’s devastation, Jeff suffered a fatal heart attack. Before he passed, he asked Steven “what can I do to help?” Steven replied, “Really the best thing you could do for me is to take care of YOURSELF, so, I have one less thing to worry about.” Jeff died the next day.
It was this event that caused Steve to reevaluate his life. He realized that he may be in a position, one day, where he will need to depend upon his loved ones for help in his daily life. He knew he did not want to be a burden or source of worry to his family and friends.
He felt as if he had been given a second chance at life. He wanted to use this chance to use his dedication to diet, exercise, well-being, and ability to Teach, to help others. This has always been very important to him.
